Products description
Never before have we humans been so informed about the world around us.
We are well aware that the hamster wheel is unhealthy. We know that we are not treating the earth as well as it has treated us. We know that unspeakable horror is happening around the clock, and that the bombs are falling whether we share them on social media or not.
But the massive information flow is infested with shiny distractions and constant pressure to self-improve, making it nearly impossible to stay focused and get involved in the necessary struggles. When we’re bombarded with information, and understand the injustice of the world, yet fail to act, we are in a state of what we’ve dubbed “mindful inaction”.
Growing up in a world after the great revolutions, the system seems so ubiquitous and eternal that imagining anything else can be hard, even when disaster dominates the airwaves, and the current system is clearly to blame. Sure, we post about burning children and burning forests. We sign petitions and buy local, but we are stuck in this apathetic no-man's land where we don't pose a real threat to the status quo. We keep scrolling and it all continues. The crying emoji doesn’t have enough digital tears to represent the hole we feel inside, as the blood coagulates and history repeats itself.
It’s not that we’re not aware. It's not that we don’t care. We simply know too much and do too little.
When Morpheus gave Neo the choice between the red and the blue pill, it didn't occur to Neo that there was a third option. Our generation has swallowed both pills in one greedy gulp, and now we live with the consequences of being terribly conscious and seemingly incapable of doing anything real in a world constantly viewed through phony filters.
But with vigilance and empathy comes the potential for real commitment and real change. Although it seems overwhelming, we must believe that we can turn our somewhat harmless internet protest into truly transformative activism by taking the right measures. Only a single tap of the spacebar is the difference between “Mindful Inaction” and “Mindful In Action”.
NEXØ is the timbre in this tension between apathy and action.
This is a rather special release. On side A you find our EP in its entirety - no surprise there. But on side B you find four tracks created by electronic composer Messell built from bits and pieces of our music. It’s not a remix - these are completely new compositions. All of it created using only sounds created by NEXØ.Customers who bought this product also bought the following products:
